Acer products became popular because of their very good price/performances rapport. That’s also the case of the Aspire One AOD150, one of the good 10 inches netbooks on the market and definitely the cheapest such device worth mentioning (we’re talking about branded quality products, and not Chinese stuff).

So, this Aspire One offers similar hardware specs and performances with most of its competitors, housing the N270 CPU along with 1 GB of RAM and a 160 GB HDD . However, it’s a little heavier (3 pounds) and bulkier (up to 1.3 inches thick).

Construction is pretty solid, but the overall quality of the materials used just doesn’t seem to be as good as on other more expensive netbooks. In terms of connectivity it comes with standard Wi-Fi, but no Draft N version or Bluetooth. And last but not least, the Aspire One 10″ netbook comes with a medium sized battery that can only offer up to 6.5 hours of life on paper (around 5 in practice).

So, there are a couple of lacks this Acer has, that’s true, but they’re not significant and are well compensated by the price, cause this Aspire One AOD150 is 15 to 20% cheaper than its main rivals from Asus, Toshiba or Samsung. And for many potential users, price is the most important factor.

Cons:

• real life battery life is around 5 hours (6.5 hours on paper)
• pretty bulky and heavy
• overall quality of the exterior is OK, but not great
• connectivity pretty poor, no Wi-fi Draft N, Bluetooth or 3G
• this device lacks the RAM bay on the back, so upgrading RAM memory can be painful

Conclusion:

I consider the Acer Aspire One AOD150 a very good choice for those looking for just a standard netbook with not many extra features. It’s perfect for students, kids, older people, etc And since it has a very good price, this version allready became a good choice for lots of buyers, and most of them were satisfied with the product, as it has a 4.5 out of 5 mark on Amazon from previous buyers. And that’s a better mark than even the EEE PCs have.

So, if you want a “rough” affordable netbook good enough for everyday applications, this Aspire One 10″  is definitely a good choice.
