OK, netbooks are by default not made for gaming, as they lack the graphic power to run such complex 3D applications. But not all of them, Dell brought an interesting device at CES through their gaming division, the Alienware M11x, a gadget meant to be a portable gaming rig.

This device will be pretty compact, with an 11.6 inch HD ready display, but still a lot thicker and heavier than the standard netbooks in this class, weighing around 4.5 lbs . Inside you’ll get a Core 2 DUO ULV processor and NVIDIA 335M potent graphics that will allow it to run smoothly modern games like NFS Shift, Call of Duty 4 , etc. And of course 1080p video content and HD Flash clips. So, this makes the Alienware M11x pretty much the most powerful netbook on the market right now.

The good part is that it can do all these while still providing up to 6.5 hours of battery life (according to the producers, probably a lot less in real life tests) and while being pretty much affordable, considering the specs. The folks at Engadget noticed on this mini laptop’s page on Alienware’s site that it will sell starting from $799. And that’s actually a great price tag.

So, if you’re an addicted gamer and need a more portable rig when traveling, Alienware’s new 11.6 inch M11x might be just the one for you. You just have to wait a little bit more, it should start selling in the next couple of weeks.
