Asus 1201N EEE PC – now discounted if you get it from here
According to the leaked Asus road-map, they are preparing a couple of new devices to enter the market by the end of 2009. Probably in an attempt to recapture their lost first position in this segment . The 12″ netbooks called EEE PC 1201N is the only one new, the others being just improved versions of the existing 1005HA and 1101HA series.
So, Asus are prepping their first 12″ netbook. But unlike most of their other devices, this one will be a lot more powerful, as it will be powered by the Nvidia Ion platform, along with a Atom N270 1.6 Ghz CPU Atom Dual Core N330 1.6 GHz processor, a 250 GB hard-drive, 2 GB of RAM and all the other goodies like Bluetooth, Wi-fi draft N, webcam, good autonomy (probably around 8-10 hours from their 6 Cell batteries). This versions will be launched probably in October 2009, just in time to bring the Windows 7 Home Premium preinstalled .
Since this is a leaked info, we have no pictures of the new device yet, but we’re expecting it to be similar to the 1101HA, the same black glossy finish Asus already used us with. As for Asus’s EEE PC 1201N price, it’s said it will retails for $499. That’s a hefty price tag compared to the smaller mainstream netbooks Asus offers, but the device is also a lot more faster and more eficient as a laptop replacement. Don’t you think?

With ion graphics, I don’t see why they didn’t include a HDMI port. Also they should have used a 7,200rpm hard drive to up the performance.
The 1201N has HDMI, not the 1201HA, since it’s not ion-based.
The N also comes with a N330 dual core. That’s what interests me (or I might just as well go for a cheaper HP 311c).
the drawback with the N331c is that it’s ION LE which does not support DX10 and designed for Windows XP. Though it can be hacked to change all of that.
