Best selling netbooks in January

With the first month of 2010 over, we have to take a look back and see what were the best selling netbooks at the end of January. Once again we have Amazon’s Bestsellers top as a reference. Unfortunately, that’s the best we can get, getting numbers on overall sales numbers for each version in such a short time is impossible.

Still, Amazon’s top is usually pretty accurate. However, this month you’ll see that Asus products dominate the top 10 positions. Mainly because they were faster to launch the Pinetrail products, while the similar devices from Toshiba, Samsung, MSI or Dell are still awaited on Amazon (some are available elsewhere, and some not).

Anyway, i for one am not at all surprised that devices like the 1005PE, 1201N  (with Nvidia Ion) and the older 1005HA are up there and benefit from very good reviews from their buyers. Let’s take a look at the top 5:

  1. HP Mini 110 (the older generation, available for a decent price – $319 – still, this one jumped on the top in the last couple of days, so i reckon someone bought a whole bunch of these from Amazon. Otherwise, i can’t really explain how can this model be the best sold netbook, when there are other products with better prices and way better features)
  2. Asus EEE PC 1005PE-P – available not for $386, with a small discount (one of the best netbooks, with good hardware, nice looks and stellar battery life. You can read the full review here.)
  3. Asus EEE PC 1005HA-P – now only $324 (this is the older generation Asus EEE and the most popular netbook of last year’s int eh 10 inch class. Still, a very good choice, while i do recommend the newer generation 1005PE)
  4. Asus EEE PC 1005PE-M – available for $319 (this is the lower end model of the version placed on second, with a battery capable of only 11 hours of life and no Bluetooth. Still, it’s almost 50 bucks cheaper, so no wonder it’s popular)
  5. Dell Mini 10 – only $297 (once again, a very good netbook, but an older generation one. Dell already launched the replacement for this one, but is not yet available on Amazon)

See the rest of the list on Amazon (will change in time, the above are valid today, Feb 1st).

Still, i’m waiting to see how will the new Samsungs and Toshibas be received by the public. And although this month’s top might not change drastically, i do expect some movements up there.

We just have to wait and see. Till then, stay tuned on netbooks and don’t forget to subscribe for the latest info on netbooks and mini computers.
