Next to Asus, the folks at Gigabyte were some of the most active showcasers this year at CeBIT, announcing many new netbooks built on different platforms and with different prices. So, after the convertible T1000 tablet netbooks displayed a couple of days ago, they now have a series of ION powered mini laptops. And more.

They just announced the M1000C series yesterday, that plans to attack the mainstream netbook’s level, with good PineTrail hardware (N470 processors), HD 10 inch display, big batteries (6 Cell 7800 Wh) and nice looks. See the picture below for how will the M1000 notebooks look like, the complete specs here and also check out this link for a video hands-on. Seems quite capable, definitely Toshiba and Asus have something to fear of in this Gigabyte.

Gigabyte M1000 series - nice looks and good features

Now, they unveiled a buffed up version, the Gigabyte Booktop M1000N, with the new Nvidia ION inside. Outside, this model is pretty much the same as the above, but specs inside are improved:

Intel Atom N470 1.83 GHz processor

2 GB of memory and 250 GB storage drive

Nvidia ION graphics (the 8 cores one used for 10 inch devices)

10 inch HD display (1366 x 768 ps resolution)

different options of 6 Cells batteries

Windows 7 Home Premium

chiclet keyboard

docking station

So, the Gigabyte M1000N states itself as quite a competitive mini laptops, too bad is still glossy. And since is part of the Booktop line, also comes with a docking station that includes HDMI output and an optical unit. Gigabyte plans to have this series available by May/June but there are no exact info on prices (expect them to be pretty high though, probably around $550).

They will have the M1000C version ready earlier, in April, so by the time the Ion version will get out we should know a couple of things about its looks, construction and reliability.

Anyway, that’s if for now, stay tuned for more updated info in the next weeks. And one more thing, Gigabyte also plans to display the E1000, an entry level netbook aimed to cost around $300 bucks. So stay tuned for details about it in the remaining days of CeBIT.

Hands-on videos from CeBIT 2010 are started popping around and right now we have two from Sascha at netbooknews.com .

First there’s the 10 inch convertible Gygabyte T1000p. very much similar to the Asus T101MT is just tested, brings the same PineTrail hardware and resistive display, only this time it’s a HD ready one with increased resolution (1366 x 768 px). Responsiveness from the screen is still not that great, although Sascha declared himself satisfied with the performance. That would be quite odd for this device to perform better than the similar Asus, as with the bigger resolution also comes a bigger lust for the insufficient resources. Anyway, check out for more details in the video below.

And there’s the fancy Asus 1018P, the replacement of the 1001P Karim Rashid (a series that proved to be not too popular). Comes with PineTrail hardware and a very slick and thin body. There’s a new case made of aluminum and based on what you can see in the video bellow and Sascha’s first impressions, this is at the moment by far the most solid EEE PC ever made . Check out the video and stay tuned for a more detailed post later on.

As we we’re telling you yesterday about the number of tablet-netbooks that will reach the market in the near future, Gigabyte announced an upgrade for their Touchnote T1028 series of such devices.

The upgraded version, called T1028X brings up the same 10.1″ screen, but with increased resolution (1366 x 768 px), a better Atom N280 CPU, a bigger 6 Cell 7650mAh battery and an ExpressCard/34 slot . The other hardware details are standard: 1 GB RAM, 160 GB hard drive, 3xUSB, card reader and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth . And since it’s a tablet-netbook, the screen is of course foldable. You can see more here, where Brad has a couple of video reviews of this netbook.

The Gigabyte tablet netbook now with an upgrade: T1028X

And while this Gigabyte TouchNote T1028 is not the first tablet-netbook on the market, it is perhaps the only one with such a screen size and a resolution . Thus, you might say it’s the best such device on the market at this moment. But, the price tag is high: $687 on Amazon (and i doubt you will find it cheaper somewhere else). If all the pluses over a regular netbooks worth the extra money, that’s up to you to decide.
