Paul from Engadget.com got the chance to get a hands-on with the LG X300, the ultra-slim and light 11.6 inch netbook we’ve been looking forward to see on the market since early January, when it was first unveiled at CES las Vegas.

This device is heading towards the US but we don’t know for sure how much will it cost or when it will actually be available in stores.

One thing is for sure though, the LG X300 is amazing in terms of looks and offers a nice full-size chiclet keyboard. Touchpad is wide too, but a little bit odd, as it lacks standard buttons, using haptic ones instead (virtual buttons with a haptic response, similar to the one you get on capacitive-displays).

Inside you will get the 2.0 GHz ATOM Z550 processor, 2 GB of RAM, SSD storage, Wi-Fi and 3G. So don’t expect a power-gorse, but this mini laptop will surely become a great travel companion, if you will afford it. Cause by the looks of it, i believe it’s going to have similar prices as the likes of Sony’s Vaio X. But stay tuned for more details in the next days, when the mysteries of US prices and availability should be elucidated .

Hands-on photos of the ultra-slim LG X300

Till then, check out the hands-on video from Engadget.

Remember the slim Sony Vaio X. And also the X300 showcased by LG at CES in January? Well, good news, the LG will have this ultra-slim and ultra-light netbook available in some parts of the world by the end of the month.

With a body that only measures 0.7 inches (17.5mm) in thickness, there’s no doubt the LG X300 is thin. And it also only weighs around 2.1 lbs. What’s amazing is that the producers managed to squeeze quite some potent hardware inside:

a 2.0 GHz Z550 processor

2 GB of RAM

up to 128 GB SSD storage

11.6 inch display (1366 x 768 px)

Wi-Fi N and 3G

Windows 7 OS

2 x 2Cell batteries (up to 7 hours of life)

However, as this device is built on the low powered Menlow platform, don’t expect amazing performances. Thus, this mini laptop is closer to the Vaio X than the most powerful Macbook Air or Dell Adamo XPS.

LG X300 - thin and compact, but expensive

As I said earlier, this gadget will be available from later this month on the Asian, Middle Eastern and South American markets. In Korea, prices are expected to be around $1400. But expect the LG X300 to be a lot cheaper when it will reach the US, probably around the 1000 bucks margin.

All in one, the LG X300 is an amazing device, with an incredible form factor and good performances. However, its target is somehow limited; this gadget is just not meant for us, regular mortals.

Specs are just standard: 1.66 GHz N450 processor, 1 GB of memory, 160 GB hard-drive, 10.1 inch display (1024 x 600 px resolution), Wi-fi N+ Bluetooth and a 6 Cell battery. Plus Windows 7 Starter as the OS. And there also might be an optional 3G option available.

As for the looks, check out the pictures below (with more via the source at the end of the post).

LG X140 - standards specs and nice chiclet keyboard

All in all, the X140 is just a standard 10 inch netbook, based on specs and pictures. We should also expect good price tags for it. No word on its exact value for now, nor on availability. But stay tuned for more info.

The Koreans from LG were pretty busy this year in the netbooks segment. After announcing the fancy X300 and some other mini laptops at CES in January, they now unveiled a new 11.6 inch gadget in their home country, the LG T280.

Unlike the X300 that is powered by a low-consumption Atom Z5xx processor, LG build the T280 on a CULV platform from Intel. There are several different versions available, with the Core 2 Duo SU7300 @ 1.3GHz or the Pentium Dual Processor SU4100 as the main options. Besides those you get the HD ready display, 2 GB of RAM, up to 500 GB hard-drives, Wi-fi N + Bluetooth and Windows 7 Home Premium as the OS. All these completed by a 6 Cell battery in a device that will only weigh around 2.6 pounds (1.3 kg) .

As for the aspect, the T280 is not such a looker as the ultra-thin X200, but still you won’t be ashamed to get it out of your bag. Not to mention that the device seem to have both matte case and display, and that’s a huge advantage, at least for me. Check out the pictures below for more details.

That’s it for now. There’s no info on prices for the new T280s, but we should expect them to start from around $450.

After mentioning the breath-taking LG X300 mini laptop yesterday, Brad from Liliputing (who has the chance to be actually present at CES), also tells us of some of the other “less shiny” netbooks LG presented at the show, the X200 and X120 versions. Still, both good devices with good features, and hopefully a fair price.

First one, LG X200, is an everyday 10 inch mini notebook with PineTrail inside and some powerful specs. See some of them bellow:

Fancier LG X200 10 inch netbook

Intel ATOM N450 (1.66 GHz) or N470 (1.83 Ghz) processors and GMA 3150 graphics

up to 2 GB of RAM

up to 320 GB storage drives

10 inch HD ready display (1366 x 768 px)

Windows 7 Starter OS

decent conenctivity: Bluetooth + Wi-Fi

4 or 6 Cell batteries

weighs 2,6 lbs and measures 10.6″ x 7.3″ x 1.2″

Also, as you can see from the picture below, looks quite nice and offers chiclet keyboard, but it’s not as light or fancy as the X300. It will probably be way more affordable, with a starting price of around $350-$380. Will hit the stores in February, so stay tuned for more updates.

The LG X120 will be even cheaper, as it packs the old ATOM hardware, with prices probably starting from around $300. This one will be available next week, we’ll update once spotted in some US stores. For now, check out some of the specs:

More standard LG X120 10 inch mini laptop

Intel ATOM N270 1.6 Ghz processor + GMA 500 graphics

probably 1 GB of RAM and up to 250 GB hard-drive

Windows 7 Starter or Windows XP OS

3 or 6 Cell batteries

weighs 2.6 lbs and measures 10.4″ x 7″ x 1.3″

All in all, LGs X200 and X120 are just standard netbooks for an everyday user. Whether they will be successful or not will really depends on reliability, battery life and of course, prices.

Although not particularly a big fan of LG’s laptops, this one, the LG X300 ultra portable, is definitely a gadget I could live with.

LG X300 is in fact an ultra-thin mini laptop, measuring just around 18 mm in thickness. Comes with an 11.6 inch display, so it will also be overall compact and light. However, I don’t know for sure what will it house inside, as for now we only have the pictures below (and i can really say this is quite a looker) and some suppositions.

However, from the design and available current rumors, the X300 will come with a 2GHz Intel procesor inside (perhaps an Atom Z550), 2GB of RAM, SSD storage and should provide up to 7 hours in battery life (battery will probably be quite small, perhaps a 4 Cell, considering how thin the device is, but LG will also provide a spare 2 Cell one for “just in case”). Reflecting chiclet keyboard also looks nice and touchpad comes with illumination and tactile feedback.

LG X300 - 11.6 inch quite a looker netbook

For now, there’s no info on the price this device will boost; i doubt it will be cheap but hopefully will get under $500. But, with proper pricing and these looks, LG X300 will surelly attract a lot of potential buyers, especially in the feminine target. But I don’t think I, as a guy, would mind having one of these on my desk. Not at all.

Stay tuned. I’ll update you once i found more about this LG X300 ultra-portable.

More and more netbooks are battling over autonomy. And while Asus offers around 10 hours for the 1005HA, LG announced a battery life up to 12 hours for their new Xnote X130 netbook.

LG Xnote X130 promises 12 hours battery life

Besides that, the LG X130 is a decent 10″ netbook with specs similar to those of most of the other devices in this class: Atom N270 CPU , 1 GB of RAM , 160 Gb HD, Bluetooth and Wi-fi 802.11 b/g/n , etc . The OS in also the standard Windows XP. And like the other LG netbooks before, this one should be 3G compatible too.

On the outside, this Xnote X130 looks pretty good and comes with a glossy finish in different 3 colors: black, white and pink .

The battery provided for this netbook is huge, a 9-Cell one that should provide up to 12 hours of life, according to LG. That could translate in 9-10 hours in reality, and that’s still more than you’d usually need.

As for the price, LG is planning to sell the X130 for around $650 . It will be available in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. Rumors say it won’t come to US, at least not from the beginning. Don’t know why, i guess that’s just LG’s weird sales policy or something…

The guys at FCC just got a new LG netbooks on their desks, for testing (according to BGR). It’s code named LG X13, but since it will be the follower of the X120 and X110, we expect it to reach the market with the X130 label.

Nobody’s sure about the specs yet, but it should have the Intel Atom architecture inside, decent storage (160 GB probably), 1 GB of RAM, the standard 10.1″ screen, plus great connectivity (Bluetooth, Wi-fi for sure and perhaps 3G). It will almost surely run Windows XP . All these for good prices, as the previous LG Netbooks thought us.

LG X130 - a new 10.1" affordable netbook from LG

From the pictures, this X130 might be a little bit on the stylish road too, as it seems to have a carbon-fiber finish on the exterior. No idea how the interior looks like for now. But we’ll update you on this new LG X130 netbook as soons as we find out more.
