Dell Mini 5 touch tablet displayed at MWC
Sacha from netbooknews.com did it once again, offering a hands-on video with Dell’s Mini 5 touch tablet, presented to us by Neeraj Choubey, the general manager of Tablets Division at Dell, durin MWC in Barcelona.
The device was displayed before at CES and uses a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor to power the whole thing. It’s pretty small and thin, offering a 5 inch capacitive touchscreen and capacitive control keys with haptic feedback on the front and a camera with flash on the back.
The device runs Android and supports all the applications from Google (Gmail, docs, Youtube, Android market place), but uses a specially designed UI with widgets and can integrate with many applications, like Facebook, Twitter, etc. And there’s a cool part: the device will come with a dock and you’ll be able to output HD video on a plasma or LCD TV directly from it, thanks to the Snapdragon inside. Impressive from such a small device, ay?
At the moment there’s no comment on prices, but there will probably be subsidized versions offered with 3G from various carriers. That along being available without a contract in all the big US and international electronics chain stores, plus of course dell.com.
As for availability, there’s nothing sure right now, but the device will be available this year, “hopefully sooner than later” as Neeraj declared.
