Do netbooks replace laptops, or just supplement them?

In some of my early articles, I tried to explain what is a netbook and what are the differences between a netbook and a regular laptop. Thus so you can make the right choice when picking a portable computer, according to your needs. Reading my guide would also help you a lot.n

But that’s not really the subject of this posts. Now i want to know what do you guys and girls consider a netbook good for. Are they your everyday computers? Are they laptop replacements? Or you just have a regular laptop and only use the netbook when traveling? Please leave a comment to this post.

All the questions are inspired from this recent study from PriceGrabber I came across (via Brad at Liliputing), 55% of consumers do not consider a netbook a feasible replacement for a laptop (the reasons are illustrated in the picture below). Additionally, 63 percent indicate that a netbook is best described as an additional device while on the go.

Things cutomers don't like about netbooks

If you think about it, all the above reasons are fair. Netbooks have their lacks, but also have lots of advantages. They do sound good for a travel companion, but for most users, they could do OK just as an everyday computer, being more than capable to handle browsing (without flash though), chatting, writing, etc. In fact, the survey says that 45% of the customers consider them a good laptop replacement. They are not great in terms of performances, but even this aspect is improving as i type and netbooks should get better and better in the next months.

I for one replaced my laptop with a netbook. However, i do most of my work on a desktop and only use the mini laptop (a Toshiba NB205) at work or during holidays. Thus, i can’t say i consider netbooks as replacements for laptops (for now), nor do i consider they are just supplements. I’m just somewhere in between… But how about you?
