It’s for real: Dell Inspiron 11z netbook will retail from $399
There have been many rumors regarding the latest Dell CULV netbook, the Inspiron 11z . But now all the speculations are over, as Dell made the official announcement of this version today, with the basic specs and price expectations.
You can find the main specs for Dell Inspiron 11Z bellow:
- 11.6″ screen, 1366 x 768 px resolution
- Intel Celeron 723 CULV CPU – 1.2 GHz
- 2GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard-drive
- 802.11 b/g wi-fi, Ethernet
- 1.3 MP webcam, 3 USB slots card readers, etc
- Windows Vista Premium OS
- 3 cell battery
Size is similar to other 11″ devices, measuring 11.5 x 8.4 x 0.9 inches and weighting just around 3 lbs.
So, as you can see, this netbook offers more in terms of hardware then its main competitors, like the Asus 1101HA for example (the CULV CPU is around 40% faster than the N270 Atom). And it has a very good price, as the Inspiron 11z will start from $399 and you’ll also have extra customizable options if you want, like an SSD drive, peripherals, an Ubuntu powered version, etc. And of course, if Dell wants this Inspiron 11Z to compete with similar netbooks from Asus or Acer, there should be a bigger battery available too, as the 3 Cell currently on is not match for the 8 to 10 hours autonomy provided by the competitors.

Dell Inspiron 11Z - faster than the average netbook, but with poor battery life
So, we can conclude that the Inpsiron 11z is an interesting device, more powerful than the standard 11.6″ netbooks and with a very good price considering what it has to offer. I for one like what i see in specs and pictures, but i will have to wait for the more portable versions with a bigger battery before giving my final verdict on it. And yes, i can’t wait to get my hands on one of these Inspirons 11z, although that might not be that easy as it sounds
