New netbook on the way: Toshiba NB305

With the new year start, many many new netbook models were announced and are ready to go in stores in the next weeks. And many more are to come at and after CES 2010, starting on January 7.

Here we have the Toshiba NB305 , the improved follower of the NB200 series, based on the new Intel PineTrail platform. In brings mainly the same looks and design, has nearly the same shape and weight (still, this one will be lighter, weighing only 2.6 lbs), but there are some major improvements inside. Here are the main ones the new Toshiba NB205 line brings on the table:

  • Intel ATOM N450 1.66 GHz processor (from the new Pine Trail line)
  • 1 GB memory
  • 250 GB hard-drive
  • Intel GMA 3150 graphics
  • 10.1″ display (1026 x 600 px resolution)
  • Wi-fi N and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
  • Windows 7 operating system (probably Starter Edition)
  • 6 Cell battery rated for up to 11 hours of life

On the outside, there are some minor changes, but the shape is mainly the same as on the predecessor, like i said before. It seems the NB305 has also inherited the matte body and the semi-glossy display also, plus the chiclet style keyboard that now became standard on the entire line.

All in one, the new series seems like a great update to what i consider the best 10 inch netbook of last year. Can’t wait to see one of these live and in action so i can compare it with the previous line.

The Toshiba NB305 will hit the stores in the US in the next weeks for a price of around $350. We’ll keep you updates on any new details we might have.
