Point of View Mobii – new entrance in the ULV segment
More and more producers are getting involved with light and portable notebooks, as the gap between netbooks and big laptops shrinks. After most of the big names, is not time for the smaller brands. But that doesn’t not mean their products are not good, “au contraire”, they might be even better and more affordable.
Is now time for Point of View to join the dance with a new device displayed at CeBIT, an ULV powered 11.6 inch mini laptop, part of a series called Mobii.
Specs look decently good:
- Intel SU2300 CULV processor
- 2 GB of memory
- 250 GB hard-drive
- 11.6 HD display (1366 x 768 px resolution) – non glare
- Windows 7 Home premium
- HDMI output, 1.3 MPx webcam
- chiclet keyboad and big touchpad
- 4 Cell battery
- weighs 3.3 pounds and is only 1.1 inch thick
And looks are not too bad either, although the model showcased at CeBIT comes with a glossy lid.

Poin fo View Mobii - new contestant in the 11.6 inch ULV class
All in all, the POV Mobii seems quite interesting. It will compete with the likes of Acer 1410 or the new Acer AO752. That’s some tough competition, considering Acers are known for reliability and very good prices, the last one being perhaps the most important advantage the Mobii could have in front of the competition. And speaking of price, a german online shop has this Point of View netbook listed for 424 euros. However, I’m not sure if this is the final price and there’s no info on how much will it cost in the US.
