Samsung’s transparent OLED display laptop might be closer than you think
Samsung presented an interesting laptop concept at CES 2010 (I mentioned it in this post). The big thing was the transparent OLED display, that allowed you to see the info on the screen but also see right through it.
So while the laptop presented at CES was a prototype, rumors say that Samsung is planning to turn it in a real product and push it on the market in a 12 months time.
A similar technology will be used on the IceTouch MP3 player that will be released on the US market by the middle of 2010. But this one only comes with a 2 inch translucent display, not a 14 inch one like on the prototype laptop.
Still, i don’t really see the purpose of using such a display on a laptop. But i do agree the technology is impressive and will find lots of uses in the future (on GPS devices, info points, etc). So let’s wait and see what Samsung prepares for us in the next months (or years?).
