We will be able to use Windows 7 for free for more than 100 days
This is so cool. According to Telegraph.co.uk , Microsoft confirmed that their new OS, Windows 7, will “suffer” from the same loophole Vista did, that will allow us to use it in Trial mode for up to 120 days.
Usually, trial mode lasts just 30 days, but there’s something you can do to reset this counter. This only works no more than 3 times though, but it’s pretty simple to acheive: you just have to open the Command prompt (open Run and type “cmd”, without quotes and then hit enter) and enter “slmgr -rearm” , again without the quote marks. Hit enter and you’ll computer will restart. And that’s it the counter was reset and you can use Windows 7 another 30 days.
This move is pretty smart from Microsoft and is just a measure to ensure Windows 7 will be more successful then the so contested Vista before was. Giving people enough time to get used to the new OS and hopefully to get to like it will might just make them buy it if they consider it good enough. I for one would go for this if i used an OS for more than 100 days and got familiar with it, that’s for sure (I already use RC1 for a couple of months and i just love it).
So as Windows 7 will reach stores in late October, we will be able to use it for free till January, and that means you won’t have to buy an OS during the winter shopping series and you can save the money for something else .
